Before you book

A Class 5 learner licence before the course. We can help you get it for an extra cost.
A full Class 4 held for at least 6 months (3 months if you’re 25 or over), to get that learner licence.
A heavy vehicle medical certificate, unless you’ve given one in the last five years.
Skipping the logbook day: proof of unit standard 24089 from an approved provider, normally in the last 12 months.

Afterwards

No separate practical test, and no 6-month wait on your learner licence.
Take your certificate to a licensing agent, with ID, to apply for your full Class 5.
Class 5 is the top class. Endorsements such as dangerous goods are separate courses.

Using your own truck and trailer

Your truck and trailer together must weigh over 25 tonnes (25,000 kg) when loaded.
It must carry a load of at least 50% of its payload, with suitable restraints.
We’ll need to weigh your truck and trailer at an appropriate weigh station before use.
Send us a request when you book. The team checks your truck and trailer before training, and your place isn’t confirmed until then.
